Another Post about Facebook

A Random Rant about Facebook
Growing older, I realized it was not that awesome and exciting as it was earlier. You can never hate something at its first instance. It is the result of accumulated disappointments. Now there are hundreds of things that pisses me off about facebook, but I am not going to list all of them because I don't want to be the reason behind you not using facebook although I know that my opinion doesn't matter. There are definitely a few things that you might relate to and a few that you are doing already and might go against me ! Sorry...

Just when I log into it, facebook makes me feel that the whole world was partying and I was not invited. (Does this joke sound familiar ? me too). Starting with the most annoying thing - pictures that other people post. Inspite of having a good camera on their phone, they use apps like retrica and candy cam. Next they type long descriptions filled with irrelevant smileys, and the sentences don't make any sense because half of it is in Hindi and the other half in English. They write about how awesome time they spent together in a 300 word essay even if they were just drinking coconut water roadside. Dude, how the fuck can you exaggerate such a small thing ?? Why didn't you apply the same skills while writing high school essays ? They are so keen on being expressive that they use five to eight smileys of the same type in the same line.

Next comes the captions ! On the 1st of January, we get the analysis of the most googled words last year. First in the list is always either "Donald Trump" or "Rahul Gandhi funny speech", but the next thing, I am sure has to be "Fb status quotations". A friend who is dumb, lazy and jobless suddenly starts talking about life and ambition. Such a break in their character sounds threatening.

Next comes the abbreviations which even Einstein wouln't understand. SC, PC, EC followed by MC and BC, which I have no clue what it means. The only abbreviation justified is PC because the person who has taken the photo must get the credit he deserves as every person with a DSLR and instagram account is not a photographer. But I don't understand the concept of SC and EC. Edit credits ? really ? is there a person sitting there for you to edit all you pictures or are you a noob or something ? What the hell is selection credits ? You need another person to google a stupid status for your photo and tell you which photo you should upload ? This sounds like a lame excuse for not doing a work which is not even necessary !! So much hard work goes into the making of an Fb post....I wonder why ? Is it even necessary to employ three people into it ?
It would have been better if this level of perfection and passion was shown by them in doing something constructive in their career...Knowing all this, I still log into it each day and procrastinate like a boss !! :-P

The Power of Imagination

The power of imagination is endless. One thought leads to other and a whole dream world could be created. You can determine your personality by the things that you imagine. Now, since you are reading this, I have imagined you to be sitting in a closed room with either your mobile or your laptop. (Why did I imagine a closed room ? because it's too hot and the AC needs to be turned on !). Look at the door of your room for a while and try imagining what would happen the next moment. It could be anything. Try flowing out your creative juices. If you imagine a ferocious animal coming towards you, breaking through the door then probably you get influenced by negative thoughts. And if you imagine a beautiful angel walking towards you through the door and kissing you, then you have a positive and optimistic approach towards different things in life.

I'm not saying that negative thoughts are bad. But you could use them in a good way too. Imagine you are digging the ground for soil that you need for your new garden. After digging a meter deep, if you find bad soil and you continue digging, you are on the wrong path ! But if you start digging at a different place then you are doing it right. Till you know something is bad, how can you go on the right side ? Nothing is wrong in taking a U-turn...For example, on your way to the exam hall, just because you are nervous you start imagining that your car will meet with an accident. When such thought comes to your mind, you need to talk to yourself and say,"Hey! calm down, that was a negative thought. Think positive and everything will go right". By saying this you are avoiding the wrong path. Because once you start imagining more negative things, it will only make you feel worse and stressed, which in turn will affect your exam.

They say that grass is greener on the other side. But who knows ? A person standing there might also think the same about you. If you imagine things and visualize it, you will remember it for a longer time and make study easier.
For example, I have to memorize a part in geography which says that laterite soil has high content of acidity and cannot retain moisture, it is coarse and crumbly. Now to remember this I will imagine a cartoon rock with two legs and two eyes. It has holes throughout its body because its porous and crumbly. To remember that it has high acidity i will make it burp. And then imagine it wearing a dog tag with letter L inscribed on it. When i am asked about it in an exam, the .gif file (of the hipster rock which burps) will be played in my mind instantly and i will have no problem in writing the complete answer ! Hurray !

If you keep questioning yourself  "What if ?" , visualize it and keep the curiosity alive, you can grow the creativity inside you. What if the room in which you are sitting was upside down ? You would get to jump over the fan blades like a skipping rope or What if you were the CEO of a company ? Would you be able to keep your employees encouraged ? What if money grew on trees ? Would people start planting more and more trees which they are supposed to do now ? What if you could control time ? and similar endless questions.

So gear up and start making mojitos and mocktails instead of old-fashioned lemonade from the lemons that life has given you. You can make a difference !

How I Became a 1D Fan !!

Directioners ~ the name given to the fans of One Direction, are an English-Irish pop boy band based in London, composed of Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Liam Payne and previously,Zayn Malik. "Normal" is not usually a word to describe Directioners. We are mostly described as crazy, obsessive, creative & one of the most dedicated fandoms. And its 100% true.

Like any other normal student, the only thing that came to my mind as soon as someone mentioned 1D, was a plane 1-Dimensional figure. Yeah, a Line. What about now? When someone mentions 1D, images of five boys singing on stage to their crazy fans pop inside my head. Who the hell knew that 1day was enough for me to transform into a hard-core directioner? Me neither.

January 12th, 2015. As i was on my way back home from school, I heard few of my classmates screming behind me. I turned around to see a group of girls shooting a video. "Happy Birthday ZAAAAAYN!!!! WE LOVE YOOUU!!" shouted my....best friend? What the hell is she doing? Who is Zayn? Her boyfriend!? But why are others shouting his name? All of my classmates know him? Is he an actor? I didnt want to disturb those over-excited fangirls. I googled about Zayn Malik. Came to know that he was one of the vocalists of a poopular band named "One Direction". Then i started watching their X-factor vlogs.

The Farewell Party

Warning : The following content is not intended to offend any individual and is merely an introvert's point of view towards farewell parties.

Yay Farewell !....really ? I would rather call it a meeting of over enthusiastic extroverts trying to spread chaos and have fun. In simpler words, it is an excuse for people to dress up and click duckface selfies for a better Facebook profile picture. There is an unnecessary hype being created by the same people who organize it. They call it their last time at school with friend. And I am like, you said the same thing thrice before exams !

Then comes the emotional side of the story. People around you will suddenly start feeling sad about the fact that they will not be able to meet each other, while posting the same on social media as their status. Isn't it contradictory ? If this was the case twenty years back, it would've been justified. But now since generations have passed and technology has evolved, we have a thing called social media which enables you to stay connected with your friends. And you write in social media that it was your last get-together ??

While engaging myself in a conversation with my friends, suddenly a thought pops up in my mind which was that I should have had googled "23 ways to rock at a farewell party" before attending one. I ended up smiling like a seal during moments of awkward silence and making a complete fool of myself.

Another aspect of farewell are the dance performances and speeches by your juniors which were quite interesting. Just to keep the party going on there will be some small games which you will have to participate in , while rest of the audience will stare at you.
Some overly dressed girls with glittery makeup and accessories will be the centre of attention for both the boys wanting to click a selfie with them, and the girls who would gossip about how their shoes did not match their dress. Once the performances are done, behind every pillar and every wall, you will find a group of people clicking selfies by showing off their thirty two teeth.

The next thing one will have to face at a farewell party are teachers. Each and every teacher will come to you and ask the universal question which I have not yet figured the answer for, which is "what are your future plans ?". The teachers being your kind well wishers will give you some words of wisdom which will surely help you. Good Luck !

My First Encounter with Facebook

My first encounter with Facebook was when I was eight years old. Like any other day, I was playing at home when I noticed my elder brother doing something on the computer. I went up to him and saw that he was playing a game in which you could build the city of your dreams...You're right ! it was cityville. But being a kid, I was fascinated by the concept of the game. So I asked him to create an account for me. At that time none of my friends were on Facebook. Everything I did in that game had to be perfectly thought about and planned. It was like a fantasy to create a city of your own in the virtual world. That's how marketing works !

Later I discovered that Facebook was not only for games, it had a search bar too ! But again, being a dumb kid I began to search for my friends on Facebook who didn't even have an account in it. The results showed up ( obvioulsly of people with similar name )...but again being a dumb kid, I was shocked and wondered how the internet knew my friends ! And that was my first time....on Facebook :-P

PS : this is the first post on my blog and i suppose "Friday the 13th" was the best day to post it..
